Gallo Pinto

Gallo Pinto is a traditional dish of Nicaragua and Costa Rica consisting primarily of beans and rice, considered the national dish of both countries.

Ingredients

2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 large onions thinly sliced
1 can La Sirena Red Beans
1 cup water
1 cup cooked white rice

Saute the onion and garlic in a pot. Add in the cooked beans and water. Cook for 5 minutes at a low heat whilst stirring. The beansmust remain whole. Now add the cooked rice and simmer for a further 10 minutes, still stirring.
